Meet the Maker: Ilona Golovina

Meet the Maker: Ilona Golovina

In a small New York studio, Ilona Golovina works with wild clays to create forms that feel both ancient and contemporary.

Her process is intuitive. Surfaces are left raw, textures are built through touch rather than precision, and no two pieces are ever the same. The result is a collection of vessels that feel unearthed rather than manufactured.

The Moon Jar is one of her most recognisable forms — imperfectly rounded, heavily textured, and deeply expressive. It resists symmetry, embracing variation as part of its identity.

At aépho, we are drawn to objects that hold presence without excess. Golovina's work does this effortlessly.

Each piece becomes a focal point, not through scale or shine, but through material depth and quiet strength.

These are not objects to fill a space. They are objects that define it.

A curated selection of Ilona Golovina's work is now available through aépho.
